What is Reiki?
There are countless ways to conceptualize Reiki. For the scientifically minded:
We are all electromagnetic beings. When a Reiki practitioner receives an attunement, they are receiving an electromagnetic signature from their Master which turns them into an antenna for the healing energy abundant in the universe. The Reiki healer is turned into a conduit for this healing current that is directed into the body of the person seeking healing (the healee). A really important note: the healer does not heal like a medical doctor would. The healee heals themselves with the assistance of the healer, who has been trained to channel and concentrate energy. Through this process of electromagnetic waves passing from the healer to the healee, the healer also experiences healing within themselves.
For the spiritual: The entire universe is made up of one, divine energy that is split up into different parts to create the dimensional experience that we experience as conscious beings. Each of us is a reflection of The Divine, and so each of us has the ability to channel divine energy. When a Reiki practitioner receives an attunement, they transform into a conduit for Divine healing energy. We, as pieces of one Source, have been divided into distinct beings for the pleasure of experiencing coming together again. Within the healer-healee dynamic, the healer acts as a giver and the healee acts as a receiver, and so the Divine gets to experience both perspectives in that one act of reunion. Both play an integral role in the healing process, and both healer and healee will experience healing in a Reiki session.
How to Heal Yourself Using Reiki
Every living thing already has Universal Life Force flowing through them, and so are all existing within the flow of energy whether conscious of it or not. With time and practice, you can be able to sense the flow of electromagnetic current through your own body, identify energetic wounds, and heal them yourself. Below is a link to a free attunement for Reiki I, II, and III. Even though I did my training in person because I wanted to be connected to a lineage through my Reiki Master, It is perfectly acceptable to receive your attunement for free and online. Please understand that attunement is just the beginning - it is like receiving your driver’s license when you are 15. Now that you have the permission to drive, it is up to you to learn the techniques and practice so that you can drive a small personal car or a semi truck, feel safe driving other people around or just transport yourself to where you need to go.

Some people possess a natural gift for energy healing and will become aware of it as soon as they do an attunement. Even if that is you, it is okay to want outside support and not have to do the healing entirely on your own. I do this work because it fascinates me and I enjoy it, and I offer free DIY information on my website because I believe that health is everyone's birthright regardless of whether or not you can pay for expensive training and sessions. Please feel free to treat sessions with me as a supplement to your own energy healing practice, or as an opportunity to take a breath and let someone else take care of you.
How does a session work?
The session will take place either online, at my home, or yours. If meeting in person, you will lay down face up on the Reiki table for the duration of the healing session, and if necessary I will ask you to turn over so that we can work on your back. Unlike at a doctor’s office or massage appointment, you will remain fully clothed. I will hover my hands a foot over your body as I scan through your chakras. I will apply light, gentle touch to the head, arms, abdomen, and legs, which can be lovely and calming to the nervous system. You or I may end the session at any time for any reason or request that I do not use touch during the session.
Sometimes it may take as little as 3 minutes to clear the blockages in your energy field - the severity of the wound or blockage does not correlate directly with the time it takes to heal it. You may experience extremely profound healing in the space of a single moment. If that is the case and we finish the healing session early, you will still have me for an hour. I can teach you any of the following:
-Techniques for keeping your channels clear after the session
-Education on how the energy meridians and chakra systems work within the body
-Beginner to advanced meditation techniques - keeping calm, grounding, manifestation, breathwork, etc
-Introduction to the four energetic bodies
-Education on Vedic systems of knowledge regarding time, space, Ayurveda, and yoga
